The America's Cup four time champ, Dennis Conner has recently purchased a beautiful classic boat. Classic Boat says that Conner purchased the 40-foot BB Crowninshield-designed gaff schooner "Fame".
The boat was the winner of a long list of Great Lakes races. Conner purchased Fame for $17,000 and after a bitof renovation is hoping to revive her back to her former glory and be sailing by the summer, her centenary year.

Already rumored as one of those rare ‘have to see' events as four of the most wonderful and Big Class classic yachts in the world will be racing together off Cowes, Isle of Wight, set to get underway July 5th - 10th, as participants compete to win the inaugural Westward Cup Regatta.
The race is being coordinated by three of the most influential yacht clubs in the world, including Yacht Club de Monaco, the New York Yacht Club and the Royal Yacht Squadron. It's anticipative this race event will mark the comeback and revive interest in Big Classic yacht racing around the world throughout the future.

Reflecting a vintage, early 20th century classic appearance, "Jack Sparrow's" private yacht isn't necessarily from the era of the Black Pearl, although its design is certainly the type of old-style class and cultivated beauty that appears to be missing from many of today's yachts.
They really don't build them like they used to, although Johnny Depp's 156 foot yacht, dubbed Vajoliroja, with its wooden cabin, elongated ends and stubby masts, looks as if it could be carrying a pirate or two, but it was actually built in 2001.

Herreshoff Designs, Inc is excited to announce it's re-introduction of the Herreshoff Alerion 26 classic yacht. This classic daysailor was initially developed for the last private owner of Captain Nathanael Greene Herreshoff's 1912 ALERION, Isaac B. Merriman, Jr. in 1977.
Following a short time after, donating ALERION to the Mystic Seaport, Mr. Merriman had soon realized he missed the adventures of his frequent day sails and approached Herreshoff Designs to help him fill the void.

Haida G, formerly Haida, a 71.1m classic yacht, was built at Krupp Germania Werft in Kiel in 1929 for millionaire Max C. Fleischmann following plans developed by the New York naval architects Cox and Stevens and today, 80 years after it's launch, the classic yacht still graces the ocean with its unique style following an exceptional restoration.
Haida was constructed to be specifically strong for long scientific, fishing, and pleasure cruises off the Californian coast.
