The overnight windsurfing lead was held by Alberto Menegatti, however his position all but evaporated with a disastrous first race yesterday morning, when he finished 10th.

It was a competition that Gabriel Browne had actually owned from start to finish. Alberto needed a minor miracle in race 15 to reestablish the overall lead - a reversal of the positions in the previous race just may do it! Alberto led at the beginning - and Browne was down the fleet ; however the determined Brazilian fought back to secure first place on the last windsurfing leg. What a finish!

Alberto had no choice but to be satisfied with second place and secured second in the overall windsurfing event. A wonderful performance from Steve Allen who managed a third place in the final race which guaranteed a final place on the podium. An exciting conclusion to a fantastic 2009 Windsurfing Grand Prix.
