Three time Olympian champion Joshua Slack will join a star line-up for the upcoming Virgin Blue Regional Beach Volleyball Series held in Bendigo.
The star player, who represented Australia at the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic beach volleyball games will team up with new partner Brett Richardson for the Bendigo sports series taking place on December 11th to 13th.
``Brett and I are just getting back into beach volleyball," said Slack. "It will be a part of our pre-season beach volleyball training for the World Tour." Slack, who has played in a numerous locations on the World Tour and is looks forward to introducing a new concept for beach volleyball to Australia. "We sometimes play volleyball in locations that are not beach towns overseas," he said. "We've actually even played volleyball in ski resort towns. "Although in Australia, everything has normally been on a beach or in a beach town. "It's awesome to finally play a beach volleyball tournament like this in our home country." This will be Slack's first visit to Bendigo and he said the community should definitley anticipate a thrilling beach volleyball competition. "Some of the Victorian players are really exciting to watch, like Cedric (Legrand) and Damien (Schumann)," said Slack. "Everyone who plays beach volleyball loves it and those who watch it loves it just as much." Slack and Richardson will continue to play in the Virgin Blue Regional Series in Geelong, Frankston and Moama. The duo will then focus on the World Beach Volleyball Tour and qualifications for the 2012 London Olympic Games, which will mark Slack's fourth consecutive participation in the Games.
