The classic 74-foot topsail schooner "Wolf" based in the keys, normally chartering tourists on entertainment cruises, set sail yesterday with more than 10 tons of supplies to a remote coastal area of Haiti suffering delays in relief due to inaccessible ports and the time it requires supplies to travel overland voyages from the Dominican Republic.
The Wolf, bearing a shallower build, will be able to anchor close enough to land to be unloaded by a local fishing fleet using dugout canoes.

The America's Cup race will return to its original format involving several teams after US competitor Oracle secured the 33rd edition of sailing's oldest and most influential trophy held in Spain.
Oracle owner Larry Ellison stated that he had not yet made a decision in regards to venue for the next Cup -- however did mention a possibility of Newport, San Diego or perhaps San Francisco -- although, he said the location must have accommodating capacity for many teams.

The America's Cup race between the United States and Switzerland finally kicked off today seeing both of the powerhouse sailing teams making an early critical error on the Mediterranean Sea.
American sail competitor BMW Oracle Racing's 90-by-90-foot trimaran, USA, flew into the starting box with its windward and center hulls out of the water on a chilly but clear day, an amazing sight after the race had been postponed by bad weather conditions on Monday and Wednesday.

The last A-Class vessel to catch the B-Class Lady Nathalie (Lady in Red) during the annual St. Valentines day Catch Me If You Can Race was the Red Stripe two years ago. In 2009 the Lady Nathalie secured her prize money by holding off a powerful fleet of A-Class sail boats including the renowned Red Stripe skippered by Lundy Robinson.
The race will get underway at Montague Beach on Saturday February 13th marking the 23rd edition of the anticipated race hosted by Eleazor, 'The Sailing Barber' Johnson. According to Johnson, this years race event will be even bigger and better than it has ever since its founding in i987.

I've participated in everything from skydiving and hang gliding to even helicopters, although none of which produces the magic-carpet feel you experience as the windward hull of a multihull sail boat lifts you off the water. The world will experience a bit of that magic today as the largest and fastest racing yachts ever built join together off Valencia, Spain for the highly anticipated opening of the 2010 America's Cup -- god winds providing that is.
