Nemo, the world's first canal boat powered by hydrogen fuel cells, arrived in Amsterdam December 9, 2009
Releasing only water vapour and gliding gently through Amsterdam's historic canals, a canal boat -- a popular tourist attraction -- powered by fuel cells made its first debut cruise on Wednesday.

Luxury Yacht Builder Curvelle, will exhibit at the Abu Dhabi World Energy Summit in January with designs for a new part solar, part diesel fuel powered Super yacht.
Curvelle yacht builder currently leads the market in energy saving having been the first Super yacht builder to purchase the carbon offset credits for the construction and design of the 33X9 Super yacht catamaran which utilizes 30% less fuel as opposed to other motoryachts offering similar sized accommodations.

The National Marine Manufacturers' Association stated that several U.S. senators have increased major pressure on the ethanol lobby by introducing strong legislation to restrict higher ethanol/fuel blends than the currently marketed E10 (10 percent ethanol).
The Mid-Level Ethanol Blends Act of 2009 (S. 1666) would keep new fuels off the market unless they're compatible with on-road and non-road gas engines.

Algae may be the scourge of aquarium owners worldwide, but their ability to reproduce and spread quickly obsesses biofuels enthusiasts, from Bill Gates to Boeing.
But nobody has yet figured out how to squeeze oil from these micro-organisms in a cost-effective manner. Proposals range from genetically-modified super-pond scum to algae farms that suck up the CO2 emanating from power plants and mining operations.
