P1010055REGThe Ford Plantation is perched along the coast, just south of Savannah. It was the winter estate of Henry Ford and is currently home to more than 300 families living amongst the southern oaks.

Renowned for its bluegill and blue marlin fish species, the Ford Plantation provides unique fishing opportunities for all anglers. The Plantation's 250 acre range of fresh and brackish water lakes provide a dream destination for the light-tackle angler.

The Ford Plantation sits on a tidal stretch of the Ogeechee River offering endless tributaries and creeks. Further down you'll find pristine salt marshes lined with oyster beds. The salt marsh is where you can fish for sea trout, red fish, or even tarpon. Georgia's offfshore waters are some of the most productive waters along the East Coast. Bottom fishing for grouper and snapper is ideal during the summer and fall seasons, along with an array of blue water species, like tuna, wahoo, mahi and billfish. The gated community offers a staff of licensed professional guides, headed by the legendary Fuzzy Davis, who is available for daily fish charters and assisting with offshore exploration. In addition to this dream destination is a world class golf course designed by Pete Dye, with two unique nine-hole challenges. The community also offers ten miles of scenic biking and hike trails along with kayaking that can fill days upon days.

The beauty of the Georgia Low Country offers a wide range of surprises. There is a naturalist on the grounds who provides guided private and group explorations of various ecosystems. Then you have the Oyster house, a building that Ford had built in order to try out his experimental inventions. The Oyster House is currently a part of the Wildlife Interpretative Center which includes an observation deck that overlooks the beautiful wetlands. There are also excursions to the Okefenokee Swamp and barrier islands. If riding is your forte, there is also a large equestrian center. The beauty here is so overwhelmingly charming that you begin to think it's not even real. Overall, its definitely the avid anglers dream destination and certainly a venue of consideration.
