 Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced today that it will open it's first phase of its Marina Bay Sands combined resort venue in Singapore, including a casino, on April 27th. Chief Executive of Marina Bay Sands, Thomas Arasi stated that the group will open 963 hotel rooms, part of the shopping mall and convention center, casino and restaurants at the resort, with consideration to construction proceeding as planned and regulation approvals being met.Phase two of the $5.5 billion resort will include the opening of extended dining outlets and retail along with the Sands SkyPark scheduled to open on June 23. Las Vegas Sands Chairman Sheldon Adelson said the resort would open in late March or early April.
"We are committed to meeting our construction time-frame and preparing our team for opening this magnificent destination," said Mr. Arasi. Las Vegas Sands' rival Genting Singapore Ltd. opened a casino earlier this month at its integrated resort, Resorts World Sentosa. A Marina Bay Sands spokesperson said, however there remains no current information on the group's pending casino licence application with Singapore's Regulatory Authority.
