(Feb. 23, 2009 - Lake Conroe, TX)... Typical for Lake Conroe this time of year it took a hefty bag of fish to win this event. It took over 20 pounds just to get a check with 10 places being paid, along with Big Bass, the Top 3 highest finishers for the Ranger Cup and the TIREMAX bonus.

There are as many techniques and philosophies as there are boats on the water, but when we want or need to catch big kingfish, we go stealth. Smaller swivels, wire, hooks, line, fluorocarbon and less drag can be the difference in boating average fish or the fish that will fill a picture frame or make a pay day.
Are there exceptions? Sure. Have anglers caught big kingfish on heavy tackle? Sure. But as an overall rule, we feel the big fish come on lighter tackle. Our reasoning based upon a couple of facts.

BOCA GRANDE, Fla. - The Miller High Life Professional Tarpon Tournament Series presented by Century Boats held week one of its five week regular series events this past weekend in Boca Grande Pass, Fla.
A field of 50 four-person teams competed in the three-hour event for a first-prize Century 2102 Inshore saltwater boat with a Yamaha F150 four-stroke motor and Continental Trailer.

On Sunday, April 6, 2008 captain Jim and his six-man crew of the Miss Britt survived a nailbiter in the closing minutes of the Yamaha Contender Miami Billfish Tournament, leaping from eighth place to the top spot with a three-day total of 14 sailfish released.
Mulcahy, mates Markian Galadza and Jason Cartwright and their crew of west Florida anglers managed to release six sailfish -
