After nearly 40 years of dropping nets into Washington waters, commercial fisherman Ray Forsman has never experienced fishing like this past week. As routine, Forsman headed out early morning to the fishing grounds, and in two quick sets of his purse-seine net, filled his boat with 70,000 pounds of sockeye.
The fish, producing ruby-red fillets, were valued at over $100,000. A few of days later, he was able to quickly fill up his boat in the second run.

Attracting competitors from across the globe, Los Cabos is set to host it's 12th annual bill fish tournament, scheduled to get underway from October 12-16, 2010, commencing the fishing season in the region.

The Gulf of Mexico has now opened up another large area of fishing grounds, indicating that the threat to seafood stocks from the BP oil well catastrophe is not as much concern as first feared.
Although, scepticism continues in certain areas with claims that the dispersant's used to clean up the oil are doing just about as much damage as the oil itself.

Laura Chinchilla, President of Costa Rica has ordered an investigation involving charges of a Venezuelan tuna seiner who attacked a U.S. sport fishing boat in Costa Rican waters.
Chinchilla announced on Tuesday that she ordered the investigation after receiving details on the alleged attack outlined in a letter from the Bill Fish Foundation, an anglers group based in Miami, Florida.

The super bowl of bass fishing got underway this morning on Lake Lanier, recognizing Hall County as the national spotlight. Fishing enthusiasts from around the country will be tuning in to watch their favorite anglers fish on Lake Lanier during the annual FLW Outdoors' Forrest Wood Cup Tournament, while thousands of spectators are expected to be in the area for the weekend event.
Through Sunday, anglers will set off each morning from the new boat ramp at Laurel Park hopeful of making the biggest catch.
