coveREGGreg Mooney, 47 of Fort Lauderdale, tuned in the Academy Awards on Sunday evening just as the majority of us did: With a small group of friends at someone's home. But, his gathering took place in Los Angeles, and he watched his film, "The Cove," win an Oscar.

"It's certainly been a crazy ride," Mooney said on Monday morning. Mooney, runs Moondog Dive Outfitters and is also a marine technician for the Oceanic Preservation Society, created by "The Cove" director, Louie Psihoyos.

The boat shows events will get underway with a VIP cocktail party at the Baja Lobster Co. featuring a live concert by Los Cosmopolitans, a favorite of Los Cabos. The event will finish up with a VIP cocktail party held at Barometro Restaurant Lounge along with the grand closing nautical-themed "Cabo Marine Party" which will be held at the Passion Night Club at the ME by Melia Cabo Resort.

swift_141_3505The 2010 Abu Dhabi Boat Show was applauded a huge success despite numerous logistical problems. With more than 6000 show-goers the boat shows attendance poll reflected a drop of nearly 9 percent in comparison to 2009.

The decline in attendees has been attributed to the unexpected death of Shaikh Mubarak Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, a member of the UAE royal family who passed away on February 24th in Abu Dhabi. Following his death the Presidential Affairs Ministry had declared three days for official mourning across the country.
