A team of engineers have planned to go where no man has ever gone before, after launching a pedal-boat submarine on the French Riviera. Dubbed the "Scubster", the 3.5 metre-long single-person yellow submarine boasts uniquely designed gadgets similar to something out of a James Bond film.
Powered by dual propellers connected to a pedal belt, the mini pedal boat-sub is able to reach speeds of 5 mph if its operator is in good shape, with depth capabilities of 20 feet.

Residents of South Louisiana were in celebration last week as the state reopened the majority of its recreational fishing grounds, after being closed due to the devastating BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Louisiana has reopened most state waters to sports fishers. Although, the state has to wait for the completion of federal seafood testing before reopening those same waters to commercial fishing.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, a commercial fishing boat dredging for clams off Long Island reported pulling up 10 canisters, one of which broke open and released an unidentified chemical causing two crew members to blister and struggle to breathe.
The ESS Pursuit transported the sick crew members back to its New Bedford, Mass., port, where emergency medical workers rushed them to St. Luke's Hospital on Monday morning.

Florida's commercial fishermen in Florida were granted a small break on Thursday as they were eligible to join their Gulf state counterparts who qualify for federal assistance in the midst of the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
In addition to Thursdays events, Gov. Charlie Crist asked BP for another $50 million to pay for extensive protective measures and compensate the first oil spill responders for past efforts and the expectation that those responders will remain on the job for at least 30 more days.

NOAA announces that 93 percent of the Gulf of Mexico waters are still open for fishing. All of Florida waters are open and seafood harvested from Florida waters is declared safe to consume, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture.
NOAA is diligently working to make closure process more efficient. They are working in an effort to cut back on boundaries of the closed fishing area. It is expected that area boundaries could be changed on a daily basis when required.
