Charter boat fishermen in Louisiana are pounding US media coverage of the Gulf oil spill for doing more destruction to tourism than the actual oil slick itself, which are risking fisherman's occupations.
'Prior to the oil spill, I had three charter days open this month. And now, I have numerous days open,' explained charter boat captain Chris Wilson, as he cut up a dozen various fish he caught with his charter clients.

The Christmas Ship Festival, currently ran by Argosy Cruises, was initially created by Paul Brown from the Office of the Superintendent of Parks in 1949.
He officially named the decorated boat parade the "Seattle Civic Christmas Ship Festival," wanting to commemorate Seattle's boastful maritime history.

Across 2500 miles of an empty Pacific and Northeast tradewinds blowing at 10-15 knots. Suddenly Hawaiian Islands erupt from the ocean floor depths into dozens of mountain peaks 5,000 to 14,000 feet high. The wind funnels through the channels between the islands, doubling in speed and building up 10-15-foot seas.
The seas swirls around headlands and swell into harbors, making entrance dicey. The winds gust through passes, creating holes, hurricane gulches, and busting wind lines. Pacific storms that are migrating eastward into the tradewinds create long-period swells that interact with the trade-generated chop.

The Hawaii Superferry now sits forlornly in Honolulu's harbor, idled by a court ruling. It's the latest twist in the short saga of the first interisland car and passenger ferry service.
The fate of the ferry has always been choppy, from its birth in 2001, through protests, to a surprise state Supreme Court decision last week that shut down the service. Gov. Linda Lingle and the Legislature are expected to ask the court to reconsider. But a reversal by the five justices, who ruled that the service can't operate without a full environmental assessment, is believed by backers and opponents to be an unlikely prospect. So at this point, the future of the ships built to carry up to 800 passengers and 200 vehicles looks bleak.
