Sunday as Courtney Douthit was heading out with his boat from Dunedin Marina, he glanced back to a shocking site. A Mercury Marquis had accelerated from a parking space, over the seawall and into the harbor.
An elderly couple in their 80s were trapped inside.

According to Jane Lubchenco, head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the federal government announced the reopening of 4,281 square miles of federal waters off the coast of western Louisiana to commercial and recreational fishing.
Over 48,000 square miles of the total federal waters in the Gulf -- remain closed to fishermen.

Salem's 28th annual Antique and Classic Boat Festival is set to get underway in this weekend at the Hawthorne Cove Marina. The classic boat festival offers a rare opportunity to see privately owned vintage yachts and sail boats, where the public can climb aboard and tour the vessels.
According to festival organizers, amongst the boats featured this year is singer Billy Joel's yacht Vendetta, a "stunning, 57-foot, torpedo-stern commuter."

According to the Alliance for Safe Navigation, a recent survey consisting of 7,570 recreational boaters showed that 64 percent of boat owners are not concerned enough about the accuracy of their navigational aids to seek out or make updates to their boats..
The alliance is composed of several boating industry companies that joined together last spring to encourage the importance of up-to-date navigational information.
